| YOUTH PROGRAMS:
A credit union's core philosophy, “People Helping People”, LCE Federal Credit Union focuses on financial education for all of our membership. We believe in starting early, and our programs focus on our youngest savers. We believe in activities that teach financial literacy. Just as reading, writing, and arithmetic set the groundwork for a solid education, the need for a “financial education” is just as important. More than ever, families are deeper in debt, credit card bills are out of control and people young and old, are mismanaging their money. As a credit union, LCE hopes to make a difference in your life through financial education courses.

“LIFE” Savers Club
To encourage a healthy attitude toward money and instill good financial habits that will last a lifetime. Once every three months, or when requested, we offer the “LIFE” Savers Kids Club meetings. We group the children according to elementary or middle school grades. The courses are designed for children and cover topics like how to save, balancing wants and needs, setting financial goals, and saving for the future. These students are also encouraged to be a part of our Savings Reward Program.

Savings Reward Program
This is a savings rewards program that rewards children for saving! We encourage all of our young members, Kindergarten through the age of fifteen, to register. Our theme is Be a “LIFE” Saver and Start Saving For Life! The students receive an identifier which includes a savings card that will be stamped for every $5.00 they deposit. When the card is completed, they can redeem it for an immediate reward, or save them for larger rewards. Rewards include gift cards, movie tickets, bowling or laser tag, baseball, zoo and amusement park tickets in season, etc. For every new savings card they begin, they also get to visit our “Smile Center” for a prize. Bring your children in to join and develop the habit of saving early.

Get Started
We have a great program available for our 16 and 17 year olds. The students need to have parental permission, work part-time, and attend the credit union’s financial education class for their benefit. Then they can utilize a FREE checking account, a $50 overdraft account, our Mastercard/Debit Card, and our VISA card with a $200 limit. These services help them establish credit at a young age and learn the responsibilities of handling their finances while they still have parental supervision.

Want to be a Millionaire?
We have a financial education class available for our 18 – 25 year old young adults. Many of our young people at this age are beginning to experience credit problems. Information such as “paying yourself first”, protecting your credit, planning ahead and how to become a millionaire, are all part of what is shared. Classes are available periodically and are announced in our quarterly newsletter and through both credit union offices.
